Location-specific irradiance · 25-year projection · Transparent formulas
Turn sunlight into a measurable investment.
SolarScope estimates your rooftop solar capacity, electricity production, financial savings, payback time, and environmental impact using location-specific solar data from the European Commission's PVGIS service.
What you will get
Preview — no values yet- System SizekWp
- Annual ProductionkWh / year
- Payback Periodyears
Values appear only after a successful calculation with live PVGIS data for your selected location.
Solar calculator
Search your location, enter your roof and tariff details, and SolarScope pulls live irradiance data for those exact coordinates.
Methodology
Every number in the dashboard comes from these steps. Assumptions are editable in the calculator so you can test different scenarios.
- 1
Electricity consumption
Monthly kWh = monthly bill ÷ electricity price · Annual kWh = monthly kWh × 12
Your bill and unit tariff are converted into an annual energy demand.
- 2
Roof capacity limit
Max panels = ⌊(roof area × utilization) ÷ panel area⌋ · kWp = panels × panel power ÷ 1000
Utilization leaves room for walkways, shading and mounting geometry.
- 3
Location-specific yield
Annual yield per kWp from PVGIS, at optimal tilt and azimuth, with your system loss
PVGIS returns monthly and annual production for a 1 kWp reference system at your coordinates.
- 4
Recommended system size
Panels = min(⌈demand ÷ yield ÷ panel kW⌉, max panels)
The system is sized to your demand, then capped by what the roof can physically hold.
- 5
Savings and payback
Savings = min(production, consumption) × price · Payback = project cost ÷ first-year savings
Savings use a simplified annual energy balance. Production beyond annual consumption is not credited; hourly self-consumption, export tariffs, and tiered electricity pricing are not modelled.
- 6
25-year projection
Production(year n) = production × (1 − degradation)^(n−1)
Electricity prices are held constant in real terms; savings accumulate year over year.
- 7
Environmental impact
CO₂ avoided = production × grid emission factor · Trees = CO₂ ÷ 21 kg
The tree equivalent is an illustrative comparison, not a certified offset.
